Zanzibar Women Football Club put in a spirited and disciplined performance in their February friendly fixture, recording an impressive result that demonstrated the significant progress the squad has made since the club’s founding in May 2025.
The match, played at Maisara Sports Complex, was a showcase of everything ZWFC stands for — determination, teamwork, and the sheer joy of the game.
A Team Transformed
Head coach praised the squad’s development, noting that many of the players had never played organised football before joining ZWFC. “What you see on that pitch is not just talent — it is courage. These women have worked incredibly hard and today they showed what they are capable of,” the coach said after the match.
Standout Performances
Goalkeeper Amina Hassan was outstanding between the posts, making several crucial saves to keep the scoreline in ZWFC’s favour. In midfield, Fatuma Ali was the engine of the team — covering every blade of grass and distributing the ball with composure beyond her years. Forward Zainab Mohammed, the youngest starter in the squad, proved her eye for goal with a confident finish that brought the Maisara crowd to their feet.
Growing Support
The match attracted a growing number of supporters — community members, families of players, and local football enthusiasts who have watched ZWFC grow from an idea into a real, competitive club in less than a year.
